Why are there so many Tops Market coupons overlapping??
….is this an error, a glitch, store sales initiative…What is going on???
Every week in 2015, it seems as if Tops has provided more in ad store coupons along with links to store coupons on their website, continuing to do Exclusive Late Week Click to Card coupons, 2 different Home Mailer offers, multiple organic coupons, all tied in with Gas Point Deals, B1G1, B2g3 deals and more!!
Today, there are coupons taped all over the shelves in the stores in the Health and Beauty section from Buffalo to Rochester and Syracuse and even some reported in PA:
–a Bonus Gas Points Deal coupon on Health & Beauty as in this weeks Ad
–up to $5 off $20 Health and Beauty Purchase Coupon
–and a $2 off $10 Health and Beauty Coupon!!!
–And readers are getting emails about a Click to card coupon for FREE MILK!!!
***Store managers, as you can see for my photos and Tracy's, a reader in our Tops Market Deals Facebook Group (thanks Tracy!!), are promoting all of these coupons hanging together in their stores …HUH?? My thoughts immediately, along with other shoppers and bloggers stacking multiple store coupons...thats not right!!! Keep reading…
So just what the heck is going on with all this???
–I really don't know why all of a sudden Tops has increased the amount of Store coupons other than it being an error or to gain new shoppers!!
Here is a time line of what has transpired over the last 8 weeks in my little world and looking back over it all now, I can only come up with one conclusion.
1) My Experience Last Month
A few weeks back I introduced myself to the Main and Assistant manager at the Tops store I shop at, as I had time to go in during the day and they were doing a reset. I only know the night managers because I work during the day. Some store personnel cringe when they hear about couponers as they associate all of us with the clearing the shelves, abusive usage of coupons, etc. BUT to my surprise, they had heard of my site as I have dealt directly with their marketing department over the last 5 years, and they said “keep doing what you are doing…we want couponers to shop here!! It brings new customers in the door and we appreciate it !!” Hmmm…. I thought that was very nice, smiled and said that's great to hear and went on with my shopping and didnt think of it again until yesterday….
2) Coupons and Programs since January 1
Tops has released numerous store coupons in Ads and online. There has already been 2 direct mail coupon campaigns, I am receiving more Tops emails, more click to print offers and even a daily email the week of Valentines Day!!! So many deals plus store coupons, catalinas, instant savings and Gas Points!!
WOW— Right now there are 8 Tops store printable coupons!!

3) Results and Conclusion
So what are we supposed to do with all of these coupons that overlap?? Well of course save money!! But how to do it in a way that is following Tops Store coupon rules ?
We tried to find the right way to do use these coupons!!
Tops store associates and managers are showing and promoting both of the Health and Beauty coupons along with the the Gas Point deal shown above as being used together while Tops corporate has given out 2 different answers to members of our Facebook group All Things Tops
–one verbally okaying the use of all 3 together
–one via email stating that in order to use both $ off health and beauty coupons, you would need to spend $30 and that the Gas Point Deal coupon is for stores with gas points while the up to $5 off $20 is for stores without gas points.
SO back to square one.. I waited to see if they would rescind the coupons and offers….THEY HAVE NOT!!
As the owner of this site for 5 years, I have never dealt with such a dilemma as to how to promote these deals. We promote proper use of coupons –never copy manufacturer coupons, follow the details & limitations on coupons, follow store coupon policies, etc. But how do I promote these coupon offers when there are such different directions by the store themselves and why is this happening??
The only reasoning I can come up since Tops did not rescind these offers, is that coupons have been bringing in more sales for Tops, with new customers and getting their name out in the market as having great deals. THIS IS JUST MY OPINION — I AM NOT CLAIMING THIS IS WHY!! It could just be an error and they chose not to withdraw the offers??
I don't want to promote these Tops offers if it will cause them to lose money, but I do not want to ignore these offers if their stores want them promoted and at the same time give my readers a chance to save even more. As we were discussing this in our group, one of our readers, Wendy, stated..
“Me personally, tops is the closest store to my house and I still never shopped there. Not until I started clipping coupons and joined this group. I don't go anywhere else now. With the exception of Walmart here and there”
I wrote this long post so all will understand what is going on as there is ALOT of questions from new and experienced couponers because most of us want to do what is right so I could not ignore it and not post some details!! And I want to make this clear….I am not promoting misuse of coupons. It is not scamming the store when their stores have coupons taped all over them. It is not fraud.
As I am posting unadvertised deals this week for Tops using these offers I will refer back to this post….you should check with your store manager and/or corporate with any of your questions as I am doing the best I can to follow their policies and still find my readers the best deals. I tried to get the answers ahead of time …
Hopefully, many of the deals will be so good that you wont even have to use both Health and Beauty coupons together and that is the way I will try to present them!

I agree with your blog Denise and have had employees and customers in line behind me when I am taking forever to check out applauding how great it is to coupon at Tops. They never get upset about the wait and seem genuinely curious, and I always tell them about the blogs...who knows if they follow up or not, but I know that me personally, I have told many friends and co workers about these blogs and I know in turn that they have told people. Tops would be foolish to turn away or "limit" honest couponers as it surely brings them much business. I have to say, when I am in line and see someone checking out not using a single coupon and never blinking an eye when their total is like $253....and they just swipe their card...I want to run up to them and tell them....Don't you know how much you can SAVE???? So YES, I agree that Tops knows what it is doing with all the great ways to save.....
